Commitment to Ethical Due Diligence
The African Gold Market Association (AGMA) operates on a foundational and non-negotiable principle: integrity is as valuable as the gold we market. Our commitment to comprehensive due diligence is not merely a regulatory obligation but a core tenet of our identity and a critical driver of our mission to redefine the African gold industry. We assert that true value is created not only through economic gain but through unwavering ethical conduct, transparency, and a profound respect for people and planet.
To this end, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any forms of illicit or unethical practice. We expressly and categorically reject any activity that corrupts the supply chain and undermines the sustainable development of the continent. AGMA will not benefit from, contribute to, or tolerate:
•The exploitation of people, including human rights abuses, torture, forced labour, or the abhorrent use of child labour.
•Atrocities and conflict, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
•Corrupt practices, such as bribery, kickbacks, or any form of illicit payment to individuals or organizations.
•Deception and fraud, including the misrepresentation of product origin or the evasion of legally mandated taxes and royalties.
•Financial crimes, specifically any activity related to money laundering or the financing of terrorism.
•Environmental degradation and labour abuse, encompassing any violation of established environmental protections and fair labour laws.
This commitment is operationalised through our rigorous and continuous assessment of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices of every entity within our supply chain—from our suppliers to our customers. Our due diligence framework proactively evaluates:
•Regulatory Adherence: Confirming strict compliance with all local and international regulations concerning environmental protection, worker health and safety, and labour rights.
•Environmental Stewardship: Scrutinizing practices related to pollution control, waste management, and the safe handling of hazardous chemicals to minimize ecological impact.
